PIOs work for state and local governments to create clear and concise communication between the media, the public, and government organizations. PIOs must share information entirely accurately and abides by official policy and law.
They also write press releases, prepare information to be distributed to the media, draft speeches, arrange interviews for government officials, and respond to requests for information from media outlets.
