Business Licensing

Habersham County issues Business Licenses to regulate businesses operating in the unincorporated area of the County (the areas of the County not within city limits), to promote improved enforcement of ordinances that protect the public, and to prevent nuisances and neighborhood disturbances. The Business License is not based on business revenue.

Under state statute, the County is required to have on record the number of employees of your business. The number of employees as computed on a full-time position equivalent basis provided that for this computation, an employee who works 40 hours or more weekly shall be considered a full-time employee and that the average weekly hours of employees who work less than 40 hours shall be divided by 40 to produce full-time.

In addition to the standard Business License, the County Commission collects a fee of $25 on certain types of business. For a complete listing of companies subject to regulatory inspection, please see O.C.G.A. 48-13-9.
