Emergency Services Available Close to Home
When you or a loved one is ill or injured, every minute counts. The Habersham Medical Center emergency department has a fully-equipped trauma room, and the ED staff is trained in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric life support.
To speed up the treatment process of heart attack patients, Habersham Medical Center and Habersham EMS have collaborated with the Ronnie Green Heart Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Referred to as STEMI (Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction), this program is designed to quickly diagnose, stabilize, monitor, transfer and provide advanced treatment for heart attack patients from the Habersham Medical Center emergency room to NGMC’s Ronnie Green Heart Center in Gainesville.
Habersham EMS paramedics and EMTs are have intensive training and experience in providing advanced cardiac life support, basic trauma life support, pediatric life support and rescue/extrication. And our team also includes certified high-angle rescue and wilderness medicine-trained emergency medical technicians.
HCMC Growing to Meet Community Need
Total Fitness, an exercise facility operated by Habersham Medical Center, is located in the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville. The partnership between the Medical Center and the Habersham County Recreation Department allows residents to utilize both facilities with structured wellness and fitness programs for all ages and ability levels. Total Fitness members have access to the facility’s pools for an additional small fee, and the facility also offers members the use of the shower facilities, gym and indoor walking area.
Total Fitness offers cardio and strength training equipment, aerobics classes and personal training. The facility is also a Silver Sneakers® provider. A nationally-recognized fitness program for seniors, 65 and older, Silver Sneakers offers a variety of low-impact exercises designed to increase muscular strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility, balance, agility and coordination.
