Piedmont College a Landmark Since 1897 Piedmont College, founded in 1897 in Demorest, is an independent, comprehensive, co-educational liberal arts college with more than 2,000 students representing approximately 20 states and 10 countries.

Piedmont is affiliated with the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC) and the historically related United Church of Christ (UCC). Piedmont has campuses in Demorest and Athens. The Demorest campus is located in Habersham County in northeast Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Demorest is about 70 miles north of Atlanta. The Athens campus is located at 595 Prince Avenue in Athens.

The student/faculty ratio is 14 to 1 and most professors hold a doctorate or the terminal degree in their field. Piedmont is known for the individual attention and one-on-one instruction provided by professors. Piedmont currently offers 38 undergraduate degree programs and graduate programs in education and business.

In addition to academic excellence, the school provides a wide range of activities for its students including participation in NCAA Division III, Great South Athletic Conference. Sports programs include basketball, golf, soccer, cross country, tennis, softball, volleyball and baseball.

The primary goal of Piedmont College is to be one of the best small liberal arts colleges in the Southeast. Piedmont pursues that goal by adding extra value to the basic college experience. For those students who are academically talented, Piedmont provides enrichment and challenge beyond the classroom. For those who are not as well prepared academically, the College provides extra academic assistance and encouragement designed to turn their potential into achievement.

More than 90 percent of Piedmont's students receive financial assistance through scholarships, grants, loans or employment.

Piedmont is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the National League of Nursing.
