Habersham County Fairgrounds
One of its objectives is to find ways to improve and maintain the site. The recommendations are then presented to the commissioners, who decide to authorize their implementation or not. Due to their hard work, the fairgrounds has been (and continues to be) upgraded and maintained. Why is it so important to keep the fairgrounds up-to-date? Because of the commission's other goal -- making it available for community-, family-, and child-oriented events as well as private parties, such as wedding receptions. Have they been successful in their promotion? Besides a growing number of private parties, regular events staged at the fairgrounds include livestock shows (cattle, calves, goats, horses), charity programs (Relay for Life, March of Dimes), specialty shows (Antique Auto Show, Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet, Soque Saddle Club), fairs (Chattahoochee Mountain Fair) and auctions. But why not decide for yourself? When the kids are bored, or you just want to do something as a family, check out the Events calendar on this menu above right, and you may find that you don't have to go any farther than the fairgrounds in Clarkesville to provide a good time for your family. And that, after all, is the bulls-eye that the Fairgrounds Commission is aiming for.
