Mountain Laurel Festival

Pottery demonstrations are planned as part of the festivities The 44th Annual Mountain Laurel Festival will be May 19-20 in Clarkesville.

The activites begin Friday, May 19, at 5:30 in Pitts Park with something for everyone including:

  • Children’s activities: Inflatables, spider jump, rock wall, etc.
  • Barbecue plates for sale by the Business Association
  • A free concert starting at 6 p.m. featuring Emerald Rose, a four-man Georgia ensemble performing traditional and original Celtic-inspired folk rock. The Hicks Family will open. Bring your chairs and blankets and join the fun!

The fun continues Saturday on the square with:

  • Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast, 7-10 a.m., Clarkesville Methodist Church
  • Parade on the square at 10 a.m. hosted by the Clarkesville Lions Club
  • Antique Auto Show at Papa’s Pizza
  • Craft and art booths
  • Fine restaurants

Saturday events at the Mauldin House include:

  • Handcraft demonstrations: wood turners, pottery, quilters
  • Clarkesville Garden Club's annual plant sale
  • Artist John Kollock will be sketching children

And there's more fun planed at Pitts Park Saturday:

  • Entertainment throughout the day, including: Anne Greene, Jeremy Garman, Crossing Trees, Mercy Tree, Tallulah Falls Station, Ensyde, Hicks Family
  • A variety of food vendors
  • Children’s activities
  • Commercial Vendors including jewelry, purses, belts, flowers, etc.

To wrap up the weekend, the Clarkesville Kiwanis Club sponsors a running event at North Georgia technical College starting at 7 p.m. Planned are 5K and one mile runs as part of The Run and See Georgia Grand Prix. CLICK HERE for an entry form.
