Construction AppealsAlong with the Planning Commission, the Construction Board of Appeals is associated with the Building and Planning Departments. It hears appeals by builders and others who believe the Planning Administrator has interpreted the building code incorrectly. Its decisions are final. The board shall consist of seven members: three members of the Board of Commissioners, four regular members and three alternates. All, with the possible exception of the Commissioners, are, or should be, members of the construction trade, such as engineers, plumbing/mechanical/electrical contractors, builders, etc. The Commissioners are automatically members of the Board, while the other members serve one-year terms and are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. They usually meet in the Building and Planning Department only when an appeal is received, and meetings are open to the public. |
