Prepare Your Babysitter

Ah, that much-needed "evening out." You've been looking forward to it all week long, and now it's here. The last instructions have been given to the kids and the babysitter, and everything's set to go. But as you're leaving, you try to ignore a vague feeling of inquietude ... what if something happens while you're gone?

Since an emergency situation may arise when you are not home, it would be helpful to make sure the babysitter has the information 911 may need by placing near your telephone the following:

  • Your home phone number
  • Your address with the closest intersection
  • Your last name
  • Where you plan on going or where you will be
  • Your cell phone number
  • The phone number of where you plan to be
  • Any special instructions or information you feel necessary in an emergency
  • The children's physician and medications

Although nothing may completely prevent parents such as yourself from worrying, knowing that the babysitter is prepared to deal with an emergency may provide a little bit more peace of mind.
